Most routines underperform for a dull reason: the right products applied in the wrong order. The rule is thinnest to thickest — with two exceptions worth knowing.
Morning
- Cleanse — Gentle Cleanser or Myriade The Cleanser
- Tone — Balancing Tonic Solution
- Serum — the thinnest thing you own, onto slightly damp skin
- Moisturise — The Protective Day Cream
- Sun protection — always last, always every day
Evening
The same sequence without sunscreen, and this is where actives belong — retinol and acids both make skin more sun-sensitive.
The two exceptions
Sunscreen is always last. Anything applied over it dilutes the film it depends on.
Retinol goes on dry skin. Applying it to damp skin drives it in faster and is a common cause of irritation people blame on the strength.
How long to wait
Long enough that the previous layer is no longer wet — usually under a minute. Longer than that is a myth.
